Application: Chrome tannage – Vie MaxiTan is a high purity magnesium oxide. It is an exceptionally good self basifying agent for chrome tannage as it gives a slow, gentle rise in pH during basification Vie MaxiTan functions by dissolving very slowly under acid conditions. When added to a chrome tanning bath it reacts with the acid present, giving a steady, controlled rise in pH. There are no pH peaks to cause un-desirable precipitation of the chrome. The rate of rise in pH is dependant upon temperature, float level and mechanical action. The final pH of the tanning bath can be controlled by the amount offered.
The main characteristics are:
Carefully controlled particle size distribution
Gradual pH rise
Safe and consistent results
Uniform chrome distribution in the final wet blue
High shrinkage temperature
Appearance: Off white powder
Chemical character: High purity, Mag Oxide
Active substance: circa 84 %
pH of 10% solution : 9.5 +- 0.5
Shelf life: Minimum 1 year under cool and dry conditions when stored in original, sealed packaging.
For basification of chrome tanned leathers Vie MaxiTan is best added without dilution as soon as full penetration of the chrome has been achieved. The total amount offered will depend on the pH of the pickle system and the % of chrome powder used, normally an addition of 0.45 – 0.6 % Vie MaxiTan is recommended. As it dissolves slowly, Vie MaxiTan requires a continuous running time of at least 8 hours (depending upon drum speed and bath temperature) to achieve its full effect.
Produces a gradual increase in pH leading to a perfect chrome distribution throughout the substance of the Leather
The fine particle size eliminates the risk of abrasion to the pelt and ensures consistent results
Vie MaxiTan reacts with acids to give only soluble salts. Alkalis based on calcium lead to residual levels of insoluble calcium sulphate in the pelt, which can have a detrimental effect on the dyeing of leather and often results in white stains and patchiness on the final crust.
Saves time and labour because the need for repeated small additions of alkali is eliminated, reduces human error.

Viecide Green Neo is a new non-TCMTB
antifungal agent developed for the preservation of leather stock against
mold attack. It is used for the protection of pickled, wet blue, wet
white stock, vegetable-tanned, crust and finished leather.
Benefits: Viecide Green Neo is effective against a wider range of fungal
species than TCMTB based fungicides. Therefore, the product can offer
more effective mold control. The product has been formulated to easily
disperse in tanning liquors. Because the active ingredient is odorless
and is dissolved in a low-odor solvent carrier, the product does not
emit any strong or irritating fumes and is thus more user-friendly for
tannery staff working near opened drums.
Inhibits Fungal Growth
Proven To Be More Effective Than TCMTB
Low Environmental Impact, Low Odour, Low Overall Toxicity
Low VOC, Low Odour And Low Hazard Solvent Carrier
Appearance : Colorless-Pale yellow liquid
pH(neat) : > 3 – 5.5
Flashpoint : >60°C
Density@ 25°C : 1.02 – 1.1g/ml
Viecide Green Neo should be applied as a water dispersion of 1 part Viecide Green Neo to 10 or more parts water. Such a dispersion is only stable for a short period of time and therefore should only be prepared immediately prior to use in the tanning process.
Recommended dosage rates range from 0.0.8% to 0.3% by weight based on hide weight. For protection of wet blue stock, it is recommended to add the product at the beginning of the tanning operation after chrome addition.
Treatment rates will vary depending on the degree of protection required for the specific storage conditions. Higher treatment rates are required where skins/hides will be split after chrome tanning and protection of the split surfaces is required. For preservation of crust it is recommended to add 0.1 – 0.3% Viecide Green Neo with the Fatliquor.

Viebeam AWC is a synergistic blend of Hydrogenated Mono Saccharides,
Carbamimidic acid and Amines. Hydrogenated Mono Saccharides cause the
increase in osmotic pressure which leads to the accumulation of
osmoprotectants in the collagen fibres, which stabilize the native
protein structure and increases the production of soluble proteins.
Carbamimidic acid helps solubilization and denaturation of undesirable
proteins increasing overall softness, and helps percutaneous absorption
of other chemicals. Yield is dramatically increased and wrinkles are
reduced and also fats are broken down. Increase of yield of 3 – 5% has
been experienced. The Amines smooth out wrinkles and reduce unwanted
Beamhouse smells
Reduces Swelling, Smooths Out Fat Wrinkles, And Increases Yield
Helps To Give A Cleaner Looking Hide, Reduces Pigmentation
Increases Solubilization Of Undesirable Proteins Increasing Overall Softness
Gives A Finer And Smoother Grain
Helps Remove Unwanted Hairs Deep In The Follicles

All types of Leathers, 1 to 1.5 % based on the wet salted weight
Viebeam CO is used as a bleaching agent on hides, skins or pelts. When used in the pickle, it bleaches any remaining hair root pigments giving a clean pelt. It is particularly recommended for use in the production of full aniline, white bleached and pastel coloured leathers.
Strong Bleaching Action
Promotes Cleaner Pelts
Improves Dye Levelness And Brilliance
Minimal Effect Upon Leather Strength And Structure
Appearance: pale greenish yellow liquid
Chemical character: chlorine containing oxidising agent
Active substance: approx. 30 %
pH value: 13.0 – 14.0
Storage stability: min. 1 year under cool, dry conditions when stored in original, sealed packaging. At temperatures below +5 °C some crystallization and deposition on the container bottom may occur.
Reaction: Viebeam CO has a strongly alkaline reaction and must not be directly mixed with acids, reducing agents or highly flammable substances acids – chlorine dioxide gas is released with the risk of explosion reducing agents – risk of rapid, exothermic decomposition highly flammable substances – risk of fire and explosion
Viebeam CO should be diluted with water before addition of the process vessel. As with all oxidising agents, certain precautions must be observed with Viebeam CO. In an acid medium, Viebeam CO releases chlorine dioxide gas, the active oxidising agent. For this reason, the undiluted product should not be brought into contact with concentrated acids or reducing substances. This can result in spontaneous evolution of gas, sometimes accompanied by ignition. Viebeam CO should therefore be mixed only in diluted form with diluted acids. Spills or splashes of Viebeam CO must be rinsed away with water immediately. Empty containers should be rinsed with water immediately after use. The primary field of application for Viebeam CO is pickle bleaching of heavily pigmented hides and skins. The product is added to the salt bath and run for 15 – 30 mins before addition of acids. Pickling is carried out in the usual way but care must be taken not to open the drum during the process. At the end of pickle bleaching, any excess chlorine dioxide remaining must be neutralised with a reducing agent such as sodium thiosulphate or sodium bisulphite. Potassium iodide-starch paper is used to test for complete removal of the excess oxidising agent. Reptile skins can also be bleached with Viebeam CO . Unlike permanganate bleaching, Viebeam CO bleaching does not impair tensile strength. Viebeam CO can be used to lighten or completely bleach faulty dyeings. In this case, the degree of bleaching will depend on the structure of the dyes to be bleached.
Pickle bleaching of hides: up to 1 %, based on pelt weight
Pickle bleaching of lizard and reptile skins: up to 10 %, based on pelt weight
Bleaching of vegetable tanned reptile skins: up to 150 %, based on dry weight of skins
Bleaching of faulty dyeings: up to 20 %, based on the crust weight

Storage stability: minimum 1 year under cool and dry conditions when stored in original, sealed packaging
Viebeam RS can be diluted with cold water and added to the vessel in the normal way. Suitable for use on all hide or skin types. The reduced swelling effect helps to give a smooth, fine grain on the leathers. The product does possess an unhairing effect, the reduction in swelling also enhances the effect of sulphides if they are used, giving a more effective removal of hair root / scud from the grain. The advantage of their use is that they considerably reduce the amount of sulphide consumed and discharged with the wastewater. On the other hand, these chemicals are much more expensive than sulphides. Owing to their high price, these products are mostly used in instances where effects other than environmental improvement are sought . For example, liming with these compounds yields a lower degree of swelling than using lime and sulphide only. This may be expected to have a positive effect on the area yield and the smoothness of the grain.

Viecide Green 88 is a new non-TCMTB antifungal agent developed for the preservation of leather stock against mold attack. It is used for the protection of pickled, wet blue, wet white stock, vegetable-tanned, crust and finished leather.
Benefits: Viecide Green 88 is effective against a wider range of fungal species than TCMTB based fungicides. Therefore, the product can offer more effective mold control. The product has been formulated to easily disperse in tanning liquors. Because the active ingredient is odorless and is dissolved in a low-odor solvent carrier, the product does not emit any strong or irritating fumes and is thus more user-friendly for tannery staff working near opened drums.
Inhibits Fungal Growth
Proven To Be More Effective Than TCMTB
Low Environmental Impact, Low Odour, Low Overall Toxicity
Low VOC, Low Odour And Low Hazard Solvent Carrier
Appearance: Pale yellow liquid
pH(neat): 2.5 – 5.5
Flashpoint: >100°C
Density@ 25°C: 1.00 – 1.05g/ml
Viecide Green 88 should be applied as a water dispersion of 1 part Viecide Green 88 to 10 or more parts water. Such a dispersion is only stable for a short period of time and therefore should only be prepared immediately prior to use in the tanning process.
Recommended dosage rates range from 0.1% to 0.3% by weight based on hide weight.
For preservation of crust it is recommended to add 0.1 – 0.3% Viecide Green 88 with the Fatliquor
% based on pickled pelt, wet blue or wet white weight: 0.1 to 0.3 %
% based on wet shaved weight (white or blue): 0.1 to 0.3% mixed into fatliquor

The main component is an ultra-high molecular weight amino modified silicone, it has a low surface tension and high film-forming ability, specifically designed to produce ultra soft and light-weight leathers. The main benefits are as follows:
Easy to use : Vielube SIM is easily combined with regular fatliquors to obtain specific types of leather. Vielube SIM can even be emulsified at low temperatures. It exhausts well even when applied in cold floats.
Versatility : due to its amino silicone chemistry Vielube SIM is suitable for a wide range of articles .
Fibre Relaxing: Vielube SIM reduces surface tension of the leather fibers and helps relax the leather. Leathers have a wrinkle-free appearance.
GENERAL: Vielube SIM is best used when combined with other fatliquors. Touch can be modified for a wide range of Leather types. E.g Combining Vielube SIM with Vie Liquor SLK and Vie Liquor SFF results in a more silky, soft, effect. Also increases yield.
Vielube SIM shows low COD and BOD values. The exhaustion of conventional fatliquors notably improves when combined with Vielube SIM. For optimum evenness of milling grain and a light-weight, thoroughly soft handle, Vielube SIM is best applied in combination with Vie Liquor SLK and Vie Liquor SFF or other Vie Liquors as preferred. Vielube SIM also increases abrasion resistance and cut resistance.

GENERAL: Vietan ZNT is mainly used for the mild retannage or neutralization of wet-blue stock. Its application is recommended for neutralization and/or as a retanning agent along with other syntans, polymers etc.
ADVISED APPLICATIONS: It is advised to apply Vietan ZNT during the neutralizing stage, or any time during retanning. Vietan ZNT can be used in automotive upholstery with no negative effect on fogging values. Vietan ZNT can be used for white and lightfast articles.
RECOMMENDATIONS: For Neutralization use 2-4% Vietan ZNT alone or with other masking salts like Sodium Formate run for required time. Advantage is if used alone washing may not be necessary and a compact retanning system may be done in the same bath saving much water in the process
Vietan ZNT may also be used in combination with Chromium Sulphate in the main tannage of wet blue leathers to reduce the amount of Chrome used and ensure total uptake of Chrome and virtually zero discharge of Chrome into the waste water. Add 2-4% Chrome powder at the usual stage after pickling run until fully penetrated 1-2 hours then add 0.5-1% Vietan ZNT and continue usual process, slow basification with Vie Maxitan is possible but may not be necessary recommended. Resultant Leathers are full, pass the usual shrinkage temperature and results in much whiter lighter shades.
Vietan ZNT may also be used for wet white tanning without salt or acid suggest after deliming and bating wash well, new float 50-100% and then add 3-4% Vietan ZNT run until penetrated, then add 3% Vietan ZR every 1-2 hours up to 9% total, check uptake and penetration and adjust pH to 4. Addition of fatliquors like Catfat or Vie Liquor GP may be added to prevent drying during storage and addition of Viecide Green 88 or Viecide Green Neo 0.3 to 0.5% is necessary to prevent fungus
Initial wet back/wash/drain
Retanning with 2.0 % up to 5.0 % Vietan ZR, run for 60 minutes
Neutralize with 2-4% Vietan ZNT check cut and pH
Continue retanning as usual
Add 4-5% Chrome powder run until penetrated add 0.5-1% Vietan ZNT run to completion check final ph 4. Much less chrome is needed to achieve usual shrinkage temperature of over 100°C
Up to 99% Chrome is exhausted reducing pollution and wastage of Chrome
As a Wet White Tanning agent
After Deliming/Bating, drain and wash well, new float 50-100% add 3-4% Vietan ZNT run 1-2 hours until penetrated, add 2-4% Vietan ZR every 2 hours until tannage is complete, check shrinkage 75°C.
